Official steel cutting ceremony – July 23, 2025 – at SSIC
On July 23, 2025, at Saigon Shipbuilding Industry Company Limited (SSIC), the steel cutting ceremony of the Mekong Romance luxury cruise project was solemnly held, marking an important milestone in the development process of an international standard travel product manufactured entirely in Vietnam.

Mekong Romance – Indochina architectural masterpiece on the Mekong River
The cruise is designed in the Indochina architectural style, inspired by ancient houses in the South and the spirit of Vietnamese culture.

The interior of Mekong Romance is inspired by the Indochina style with sophisticated wood carvings, arched windows and hand-crafted ceramic tiles, reminiscent of ancient villas in Saigon, Hanoi and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Some design details are inspired by the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le (Sa Dec), a place associated with the story of female writer Marguerite Duras.
The cruise is also equipped with an art stage to perform traditional forms such as hát bội, Khmer dance and Vietnamese - Cambodian folk art.
In the future, Mekong Romance will bring unique cultural tourism experiences to domestic and international tourists, with activities to explore floating markets, traditional craft villages and enjoy Vietnamese - Cambodian indigenous art.
