VISEC ACCOMPANIES THE MEKONG ROMANCE KEEL LAYING CEREMONY

November 14, 2025 – At Saigon Shipbuilding Industry Company Limited (SSIC)

Following the cutting ceremony held last July, on November 14, 2025, the Mekong Romance luxury yacht project officially entered the next construction phase with the keel laying ceremony – a traditional ritual in the shipbuilding industry, marking the beginning of the hull assembly process.

VISEC – Key technical and workshop design firm

In this project, Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering Joint Stock Company (VISEC) is responsible for technical design and workshop design. With high expertise and experience in deploying specialized cruise ships, VISEC closely coordinates with SSIC and partners to ensure that all technical parameters are deployed accurately, synchronously and in accordance with actual operating conditions on the Mekong River.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Binh Minh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of VISEC - shared about the process of implementing design documents and the specific technical requirements of high-end cruise ships. He emphasized:

“We always focus on closely coordinating with the Owner and shipyard to optimize the structure, ensure safety, functionality and aesthetics. These are key factors to create a quality product, meeting the increasingly high expectations of the waterway tourism market.”

His statement clearly demonstrates VISEC's determination to accompany related units throughout the construction process, aiming to complete and put the ship into operation on schedule.

Mekong Romance – New symbol of Vietnam river tourism

Mekong Romance cruise ship is designed in the Indochine architectural style, inspired by ancient houses in the South, harmoniously combining modern technology and Vietnamese cultural identity.

Technical parameters: Length 83.76m – Width 13.80m – Height 3.40m

The ship includes 32 luxury cabins, each with a private balcony, along with high-class amenities such as an infinity pool, bar, restaurant and traditional art performance stage.

At the event, Mr. Dang Bao Hieu – Chairman of Focus Travel, the Owner – expressed his joy when the project officially entered the important construction phase. He thanked the design entity and the shipyard for their close support and cooperation from the very first days of preparation. At the same time, he affirmed:

“We hope that the ship will be completed with the highest quality, ensuring safety, modernity and in line with the development orientation of waterway tourism set by Focus Travel. I believe that the close coordination between the parties will help the project to be completed on schedule and bring the best experience to tourists in the coming time.”

Towards a unique cultural journey on the Mekong River

When put into operation, Mekong Romance will bring tourists unique cultural journeys, connecting with the indigenous life of Vietnam and Cambodia through activities such as visiting traditional craft villages, floating markets, performing arts and enjoying river cuisine.
